I dont really know if Al-Shabab will join Al-Qaida but I undersatand why Al-Qaida wants to. Al-Qaida wants to join Al-Shabab
because they are feeling weak because recently the United States' Navy SEALS killed Osama Bin Laden. But in 2009 Al-Shabab pledged a video saying "at your service Osama." So maybe Al-Shabab
may join Al-Qaida. Also Abdi Rashid said that Al-Qaida has lost power in recent years. That is why I think Al-Qaida may join Al Shabab.
Why/How
The big reason Al-Qaida wants to link up with Al-Shabab -want to extend their terror franchise.
Al-Qaida made an offer with Al-Shabab but they are not sure if they will accept their offer or not.
My personal opinion
I don't think Al-Qaida should link up with Al-Shabab because they already have enough power. For example,the 9/11 attacks gave Al-Qaida power.
